The MK Soultra is an Atlanta soul-jazz band that spun off from the Georgia Soul Council. There’s no bass player on the bandstand: Brian Didsbury handles keys, bass and vocals at once, John Halpin plays guitar, and Gabe Fleming holds down the drums.
The set leans on songs people already know, from Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield and Gil Scott-Heron to Pink Floyd, the Beatles and even Wham!, turned into grooves a taproom can settle into on a Saturday afternoon. When the room wants more, they bring in a horn. Jailan Jagne has sat in on sax.
